Well, I thought some might like this. how to say train in a bunch of languages! Some are how they are pernounced, others are the normal way. Take a look:

Spanish: Tren
Portugese: Trem
Dutch: Trein
Russian:Поезд
Italian: Treno
Swedish: tåg (Hey, isnt that a member?)
Norwegian: Tog
Latin: Comitatus
Japanese: Tore-n
Indonesian: Kereta-api
Hungarian: emeltyûrendszer
French: chemin de fer
Finnish: koulia
Danish: Tog
African: Trein
Bulgarian: пътувам с влак
Croatian: okvalificirati
Czech: cesta vlakem
Esperanto: Tranjo
Icelandic: járnbrautarlest
Polish: jechać koleja
Romanian: Tren
Serbian: odgojiti
Tagalog: Sanayin
Hindi: relagADI

Some corrections and questions. The Polish actually means "travel by train." Given the similarities between Polish and Czech, I suspect the latter entry has the same problem. The Polish for "train" is "pociąg." The letter "ą" in that word is an "a" with a hook underneath, I'm not sure if that is diplaying properly. The word "kolej" means railroad. Thus, one says "travel by train" (jechać pociągem) or "travel by railroad" (jechać koleją ).

As for the African, there is no one language for Africa! I wonder whether that is supposed to be Afrikaans, the language spoken in parts of South Africa and Namibia and some other places.

Well, I got these from online translators, so it mostly is incorrect. As for the African, I meant to write Afrikaan. And, also, JRMDC, do you speak the Polish language fluently?

Ah, translators, OK, it can be way off, then. If I may be a bit critical, it's not so useful a list, then? Maybe it is a rough first draft.

BTW, you give an entry for Latin. Latin died as an actively spoken language a LONG time ago (outside of ritual speech such as a Catholic mass, and perhaps as part of linguistic scholarship) and I'd be curious as to who made the decision as to how "train" would be said in Latin, were that language still been actively spoken at the time trains appeared.

Well, I know nothing of Latin, but the wiki suggests something else entirely: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comitatus

My Polish is pretty good, had been fluent, still fairly close to it, maybe some would say I still am. Not sure of the definition of fluency.

Well, for one, the definition of fluency is "able to have a conversation in that language, not just a few sentences."

And, I was just making this for myself, but I figured I would share in the forums.

Let's not get too heated here. The admins seem to be on a banning streak lately. Or maybe it's just the members.....

Well, I don't feel that this is heated. And I have no idea why PLEzero thinks rpl is back. This seems like a reasonable thread, a list was made, I pointed out that is was not a very good list, there was some back and forth. Perhaps I was too acerbic for some, but I think I have been within reasonable limits.

By the definition of fluency given, I certainly am.

Yes, I will admit this list isnt very good, but at least it gives a rough idea of how to say train in various languages.

Well I just feel that Amo de trenes has/had an attitude. Or maybe I'm just taking it wrong. I just don't want anyone getting into an e-fight and getting banned...again.

Fair enough. Certainly the unsupported "sounds pretty pointless" comment in response to a dead thread (although a sticky) about RPElite sounded iffy to me.

I am mostly certain your opinion of that will start to change. I have already noticed numerous similarities between the two characters.

Based on other threads I have viewed since, that may be so , but in this thread I have seen no particular issues.
