Default The "ins" and "outs"

The "ins" - the two that made it:

This one has awful color. I need to fix it and re-upload.

The "outs":

None of these are perfect - I can't really complain about the rejection, but they are they way I like them - and I think they are all better than the "ins".

BTW, these were all shot between St. Louis and Springfield during Frisco's last year before the BN merger. A few of us made a trip just for this purpose and chased a train along the route. There's not that much stuff "out there" along this route.

Don, I'm not sure what the point is here - is this a set of shots that you are happy with, that were rejected, and you want to share them with us, because ... why?

Or you want feedback on how to respond to the rejections?

The bridge nose shot, brighten it a tad - RP doesn't always need a major change - and the rest, all much too tight on the nose for my personal tastes. Better than the "ins"? Not in my book; two of the rejects are just more of the same basic wedgie, and the mistaken upload doesn't jam the nose onto the left margin. Tastes vary!

That is the point. It's just an exhibit of "how things work" on RP.

Shutter lag or bad timing?

Mechanical focal plane shutter was pretty quick, so bad timing - by a few tenths of a second. Train was doing a steady 55 mph and it was ...uh..."difficult" to get ahead of him and have much time to set up the shot.

I prefer to have missed a bit late than early - what you shot was what you got - there was no cropping for a slide show.
