Default D&h c420

Busted for cropping....

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...17&key=5406073

I'm thinking I'd be okay with whacking the C420 in the background on the RH side and some off the top. (and change the caption....)

Nothing fancy here. Just a generic 3/4 roster shot.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it seems pretty unbalanced; too much sky and the stuff on the right's not interesting enough to go with the crop above like you said.

Turn it into a straight roster shot. The BG is too dark and shadowy to be a part of the shot.

What? There is no train, only a locomotive.

Looks level to me. What are you seeing that makes you see it unlevel?

Although i do believe it is leaning slightly CW, it's more the angle and the balance that makes the composition "out of whack" IMO. I didn't really examine the photo the first go around (hence didn't notice what was coupled or not to the loco). Quick impression was: "that's out of balance...it's coming out at me!"

You can tell very quickly (instantaneously) that a photo is out of balance.

There are no reliable verticals for locomotives sitting on D&H enginehouse track...or their main lines! Cool paint scheme, lousy track.
