Default Advice on composition

Hello Team !

Where would you add some more space to make this picture acceptable for RP ?

Many thanks in advance for your guidance.
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

for me it looks ok. bzt to bring it in, I would at first add a little at the left, if it is possibe, and if neceessary crop a little on the right. Maximum half of the tree. Hope it works.

best regards
Micha

I agree with adding space at the left and I would crop a little off the bottom as well. It might be necessary to crop a little on the right then, too.

Hi Daniel,

Your cropping isn't far off the mark. As others have indicated, trim just a bit off the bottom and if you've got room to include a little more space on the left ahead of the locomotive, that would be good. I wouldn't mess with the right. I think it looks fine as-is.

Many thanks to all of you for your comments. I have modified the cropping, but now it is overexposed

Hi Daniel,

Try cranking it down 1/3 of a stop, but also take a look at the nose of the locomotive. On my work laptop, I am seeing what appears to be some softness. If it's not tack-sharp, it may be best not to push this one any further. It's probably best to limit the number of time you re-submit the same photo, at least within a short period of time.

I had the exposure problem with a shot awhile back--I used the levels adjustment function on Photoshop Elements to adjust the shadows and light; that seemed to work better than just adjusting the exposure slider. I agree with Kevin that the nose of the locomotive seems a little soft.

Thanks Kevin and Tracey for your feedback. I think I will let this one go and concentrate on other shots from the same day.

This photo would have a favorite from me. I just suspect the screener doesn't like the train. As it's been said before... a photo could be rejected for almost anything that is in anyway subjective such as composition. Your photos are awesome Daniel.

Hi John,

Many thanks for your support. After a new trial, the photo has finally been accepted to the database ....
