I like it now that I have seen a good photograph of one. It's a neat little tweak of a rather bland paint scheme.
I guess the new paint scheme is immune to cloudy/common reject too!

If you own the site you can post whatever you want. (not a criticism, just a fact that if you pay for the hosting you should be able to post whatever you want)

Oh and yeah the new paint scheme sucks even more than I thought YN3 was capable of sucking, the nose looks ridiculous.

Sure, never said otherwise, just kind of surprised he posted that. It's atypical from most of the rest of his stuff.

Cloudy/common is suspended on the first poster with new power and new paint schemes. Has always been so.

The more I look at this, the less I am a fan. I dont think it looks half bad on the side, but the front really looks half ass.

It's like some of the 4700/4800 SD70MAC's CSX got that have a PUNY CSX on it.

I like the scheme. It's different. I wish the foamers in this hobby wouldn't criticize every change and actually just appreciate the fact that there has been some change.

C'mon Chase, knock it off with being judgmental and with generalizing. Just let people have their say; if you disagree, say so, but don't judge them.

I hardly think the criticisms of the scheme are based on foamerishness (yeah I know thats not a real word) but have much aesthetic merit as well. The scheme is clearly based on the C&O/B&O paint scheme but it begs the question why to bring back such a utilitarian scheme put in place just for cost effectiveness when there are all these great predacessor schemes.

To me YN2 seems like a modernized C&O/Pere Marquette passenger scheme, while YN3 seems like the cost saving freight scheme that followed. I guess CSX will get a good paint scheme when it gets a real name to go along with it...
I vote for SAL green, its the color for CSX since they want to convince everyone they are environmentally friendly.

You make change sound like progress. All I see is new power adding to the mismatched consist identify crisis already plaguing the system. Then again, I'm just a critical foamer that can't appreciate change...

I guess to some extend, you have to admire that UP at least has keep the same basic COLOR scheme, even though they add these gimmicks like Flags, Wings, pink bows, etc

In the end, it doesn't matter what railfans think of a paint scheme. The railroad will continue to run with the same success or failure whether it's got an ugly paint scheme or nice one. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway.

I had a consultant work with CSX to revise the design ever so slightly. CSX stated they were very concerned as to what railfans think of their image and took us up on this proposal. They are accepting apps from other railfans.

That AC-6000 style outlining of the letters does not work for me.

Thank you for reminding me to suggest that CSX should bring back the version of YN2 applied to most of the AC60's.

Mitch is the only railfan I know that wants CSX to paint a dog on their locomotives and not go back to Chessie.

And yet, strangely, there is no dog present in Mitch's "repaint". As for me, I'll take the NS paint scheme over CSX any day. People can whine all they want, but as a friend of mine who used to run locomotives for a living once said, there are only two proper colors to paint an engine - black, or "dark green locomotive enamel". For those confused about what those two colors mean, I offer the following examples :

Mitch, I saw a flaw in the work, see the attached (sorry, unable to present in displayed form).

A friend that works for NS saw CSXT 967 at Conway, Pa in primer paint. He said the new logo was under the windows on the cab. Interesting.

I guess I'll throw my opinion in.. I like it. It's different, and yet they didn't completely change the scheme like CSX normally does. I'd like it more if they brought back the B&O Capitol Dome, or even made the "C" in "CSX" into the Chessie kitten "C," but we gotta live with what we have.

Nah. But keep the "C" like it is there, Troy, followed by "hessie System" and on yellow and blue locomotives with a dash of orange.

I disagree. If you're going to play the evil empire and absorb a bunch of other railroads, at least be like UP and admit it. I'd settle for Chesapeake & Ohio.
