Default CSX Police

For the first time ever I saw the CSX police out today. They were down at St. Denis talking to the rail fans.

It was a slow day so I stayed in my car, but they seemed to be nice, just reminding people not to walk on the tracks and to be safe.

I have to say I've never seen them there before.

What amazed me, is that right after people left, it looked like people started putting pennies on the track.

Every railroad has police.

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

If you where to ever railfan in Granite City, IL you would realize very quickly that most class ones have police. Last time I was there I got asked by NS, UP, and CSX police what I was doing.

SHHH! Actually, all of my run-ins have been friendly ones! Shoot enough in one area and they get to know you. . . .

They also remember you, if you happen to be especially funny looking.

I suppose that is actually the key to your success.
