Default Gallery: Poles/Lines

In another thread John F presented a shot by Chris in the context of a discussion on poles.

It occurs to me that we haven't had an images thread in a while and this would be a good topic. Here is mine:

I still regret that the unit was filthy that day!

And for kicks, here's a non-RP shot. You asked for poles, you're getting 'em:

I'm sure I have much more, but that's enough wood and wire for the time being.

Thank you, Jim! Always good to be reminded of that one.

I recall there are some "wire glint" shots on RP, but I have no clue who shot them or how to find them. Anyone recall them?

Like Steven's above but with the wires more predominant, and I think in color.

Not wire glint, but definitely an interesting illusion of the wires created by the sun. The wires appear to "bend" in mid-air.:

I guess I never really thought of using the powerlines in my benefit as I normally hate them in shots... but here are a couple that it helped with the photos:

J,

You're going to have to be more specific. You asked for poles. Did you want:

Telegraph poles (and diesels):

Telegraph poles (and steam):

Trolley poles:

Light poles:

Or, lastly, an actual Pole (aka AB2):

In all seriousness, it's interesting to note that in the New York area, catenary poles (in use or abandoned) are much easier to find than remaining telegraph poles.

Lastly, a couple of my favorite pole shots by other photogs:
