Well... not sure how to fix the cropping here:

The problem with the first two is that you can barely tell there is a train in the picture. They are good pictures, but not good train pictures. The B&W one, the contrast is too much and there is alot going on in the picture. Since the train isn't centered, it takes a while for the eye to find the train, and its almost confusing.
As far as the Amtrak shot, the train is also pretty small in the subject, with dead space at the bottom.

Number 2 and 4 are awesome photos. Not sure why they're nitpicking you here.

As for the last one (bad color), it looks a bit too pinkish. The snow in the shadows at the bottom should be more blue, I think.

IMO, YMMV, FWIW.

First - What train? Call it landscape, artsy, etc., but a railroad photo it isn't.

Second - The train is lost in the scene. It just blends right in, and doesn't grab the eye.

Third - The bottom isn't helping the scene, and the interest is mainly in the center of the frame. Maybe take some off the left to shift it over some.

Fourth - I can see a vertical crop working here.

Bad Color - Sorry, but I cannot even start to believe that sunrise.. I think you went nuts in photoshop.

I think the second could be more focused on the theme, if you crop the sky and clouds:

On the sunset/sunrise shot, bring out the train more. It is a gorgeous landscape as it is.
Except for the Bad Color one where the color does need fixing, I really like all the others.
But they are a little too artistic therefore are outside the RP wedgie comfort zone. Thus the rejections.

Maybe the third could work better like this:

The fact that none of these were taken disappoints me. These are some of the best pictures I've seen in awhile. Awesome, awesome job.

Re second one, GBR, no, no, no! The whole point (ok, to me!) is that the spot of light at the bottom of the valley complements the larger body of light upper left. Sweet, sweet image.

First one, probably won't fly, but crop some left and top a bit. Awesome shot! A bit too heavy on the browns in the HDR-ish treatment for my tastes.

Fourth, the tree establishes the right side, so those branches creeping in on the right margin don't belong. Modest crop on the right.

Third and fifth are the same link, no comment on either, just a shot, distracts me from the others which are waaay more interesting. Still better than anything I've got lately.

Bad color, what has been said.

Nice set of shots, best set we have seen show up in the forum for discussion, warts or not, in quite some time.

We see different pictures in the second one, Janusz. I was impressed with dark background and the bright railroad theme. The clouds and the sky distract from these (to me).

That's the Mars version of the Candyland plug-in for photoshop.

Default Like em all.....

Like em all but that 4th shot is way cool - great in B/W. Also how long did you wait for that train to come along? (looks cold!)

Oops...look at the horizon line in the background.

That's going to get a ton of views. The thumbnail looks like something out of Total Recall.

Good thing it wasn't taken in California...
