Backlit images usually have contrasty shadows....
Maybe it's the higher latitude of Canada that alters that reality?

Loyd - other then perhaps being ever so ridiculously unlevel - perhaps 10 times what my own images are rejected for, why do you say that image looks like a poor quality cell phone image? I'm hard pressed to see it, though I'm looking at it online vrs an actual high res enlarged print in hand.

That was a bit of a tongue in cheek response from me, but I guess in reality the image quality just isn't on par with what Anthony normally submits.
