I like F 4 over F 2.8 in zooms as the 2.8 ones will brake your back over time, Not a big deal for the younger guys and the F 4 ones fit bags better to, Things to think about. Now pros need 2.8's for sports but most fans never shoot at F 2.8 as we need DOF and will shoot at 5.6 or higher if we can. Plus F 4 are half the cost mostly to.

Well, one benefit of f2.8 lenses that a lot of people dont know is (on Canon anyway) you have high(er) precision autofocus using f2.8 or faster lenses on non-1 series body. Your camera does metering and autofocus wide open, then stops down when it makes the exposure. On non-1 series bodies you get better precision even if you are not actually shooting at 2.8.

Center FP only on 00D 000D cameras.
