Might want to go back a read what transpired on Trains.com forum... It appears it will not be closing completely, but some sort of changes are underway.

That's where I did hear about it and the train gift shop is gone which is the point, and I tried their web site last night and it was down didn't try today yet. Someone said a Kiddie Store is going in there, we will have to wait and see, but as for now the train gift shop is moving out "Anthony & Lynne Miranda". http://trains.com/community/forum/to...TOPIC_ID=62497 . Thanks David, Stay Safe, Have Fun, Rail Fans Rule.

That's too bad.

I highly doubt any other type of store will get better buisness there than the railfan gift shop that is(was) there.

The platform and shop are separate things. The platform is just a gazebo with some picnic tables in it.

I hope we can still use the platform and restroom for train spotting I will be up there on April 20th. I'm sure someone will be there before that to update us. Stay Safe, Have Fun, Rail Fans Rule.

Default Update from Rochelle

Just go this off Trains.com, looks good if true.

There seems to be a lot of erroneous information out there so I want to let you know what is really going on. The City of Rochelle has decided to give management of the Rochelle Railroad Park to the Rochelle Tourism & Visitorís Association due to reasons that Iím not at liberty to discuss. Neither the Rochelle Chamber or Park District have anything to do with the Railroad Park, nor have they ever.

The Rochelle Tourism Board is planning to continue to have some form of a gift shop at the Railroad Park and hopefully also to add a railroad museum, maybe a train layout and have some type of food and beverages available. I assure you that we plan to improve upon what is currently there, not to take anything away from the park. It may take us some time for these plans to come to fruition, but it will happen.

Thank you all very much for your concern of the Rochelle Railroad Park and your patronage as well. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at tourism@rochelle.net.

Ross Freier, Director
Rochelle Tourism & Visitor's Association
