Does anyone know of any good places for a beginner to take places around south central IL because that's I am located there right now and I seem to be having a hard time finding a good spot.

Mount Vernon: The old Precicion National Shops (now National Railway Equipment) on Shawnee Street.

Effingham: CN crosses CSX (IC / NYC)

How far south? According to some Chicagoans (including my dad), "Southern Illinois" is roughly anywhere south of I-80 (for those not from Chicagoland, I-80 is on the southern edge of the Chicago Suburbs, decently far north in Illinois).

I-80 is the border of PA too. Even the weather has to get a visa to migrate north.

Does anyone take pictures around Odin? I've been there a couple of times and seen some UP, CSXT, CN, and IC stuff. Am I just lucky, or is a decent place to go?
