Default My favorite, NS or CSX

My favorite would be NS. I really like both of them, but NS is my favorite because the paint jobs are awesome! My favorite paint job on CSX is the YN2.

It's a no brainer. The Thoroughbred is at least 100 times better than the Chemical Spill Xperts, especially when railfanning. Yeah, we bitch and moan about the scourge of catfish, but at least with NS you know when trains are running...

I haven't heard of any CSX chemical spills lately. I distinctly remember a certain NS derailment though....

Meh, I live in the "west" (Near Chicago) so I'm a BNSF fan, but of NS and CSX, I'm gonna have to go with CSX.

Maybe so, but who has won the Harriman Award the past 15 years? Who offers better service? Who actually runs trains on a schedule? It aint CSX...

How about none of the above? We deal with both of them and neither one seems capable of giving a remotely accurate line up of what they'll be delivering on any given day. I'll take the predecessors any day.

I voted for NS even though I get sick of seeing them since they own my local main line. IMO CSX doesn't really know how to run a railroad.

Thumbs up csx or ns which road is better

the answer to that question is easy for me i don't care for either csx or ns.i like union pacific and bnsf.as long as a locomotive is ac4400cw,that what counts to me,anyway.

On the surface, I would have to say NS. They just appear to be healthier.

NS by far. I like their paint a lot better than that crummy dark future although YN2 was sweet. Also their stock has gone up over $10 over the past year. Their business is expanding and their trains are much more orderly. NS also hardly ever abandones lines. Only railbanking where the tracks are kept in but seldom if ever used. CSX tore up the B&O St. Louis line, Chessie tore up the whole WM, and CSX also tore up large chunks of the SAL and ACL. NS has been pretty good with abandonments.

Cool

I have to say that NS is FAR better than the CSX: NS's tracks are better, they actually run on schedule, they are gaining lots of business and most of it is old CSX business! ........ and so on Plus the ''Thoroughbred of Transportation'' slogan is the best.

Have you looked at that track lately? There is new rail there on the CSX side. Besides, the Aberdeen is up the end of a branch line for CSX and the rail there was plenty sufficient for the traffic base up there...even though it was jointed and the ends were beat down.

CSX is a far better place to work than NS.
We make up a lot of phrases that "CSX" stands for. But (and I hope I'm not jinxing anything here), we don't deserve the nickname "Chemical Spill Experts". Our hazmat record is among the best in the industry.

Another cool thing about NS is their commercials. You can see em on their website and occasionally on TV. They actually have commercials and they are awesome.

its not so much the railroad that makes the engines go on fire...its the locomotive its self...that locomotive, which NS owns a lot of...happens to spit fire now and then...has nothing to do with the railroad

What the heck are NS catfish? All I could come up with is that they may be the NS GE C40-9W locomotives. The front stripes kinda look like whiskers. What are catfish really?
