Default New to this hobby - a few questions

Hi guys

Althought I like trains for a lot of time, I'm completely new to this hobby.
I've just found railpictures.net site and found it outstanding.

My questions are:
1- I would like to understand more about the US Railroad system. Where can I find a railroad map and explanation of what kind of trains exist in each road? I'm mostly interested in trains in the West.
2- What are the most popular mailing lists about trains on the web?
3- Are there other sites like this one on the net? In other words, what are the most visited Rail Hobby sites on the web?

Tks a lot! Andre

Try yahoo groups. You can find out a lot of information on a certain area from locals.

You also might want to check out trains.com and railroadforums.com
