BNSF Derailment Photo Set - Hager City

For those of you interested here is a proof set of the clean up last night.

An intermodel car axle broke from what I heard which caused the stacks to stack up. Clean up was moving at a pretty fast clip. If you watch certain parts using the slideshow function it is neat to watch the cars get lifted and fliped or dropped. There is also a spot where a hooked flung off the car and landed in a pile of dust right at the tractor. I will get a photo number for that tomorrow.

Good grief, Travis. 1105 shots is WAY TOO MANY! No one can deal with that many shots except you. Sort out your 50 best and I'd love to see them. Oh, and upload a few to RP, too.

My best couple will be processed and put into my gallery. The derailment gallery will be deleted in a month or so.

In a low light environment like that with only one chance to shoot a scene, I shoot. You have things, people, and machines all moving while I sit and shoot down to 1/15th of a second so it's all about getting quadruplicates of everything hoping you at least get a few good shots. Just in case you were wondering why that many images were produced in a couple hours.

It appears that Travis is unfamiliar with the technology sometimes casually referred to as "video", another means by which a series of still images are captured. Instead of displaying them awkwardly in a humongous gallery, however, through the magic of computing the images are consolidated into a single file and displayed in a convenient sequence, very realistic actually, with only a single click.

Nobody would make it through 2 seconds if I did do video of that night as 3 SCREAMING kids ran back and forth behind me as their parents did nothing but look at the mess below.
