Trainorders.com has an active Model Railroading forum where members frequently post photos of their layouts and locomotives.

There was a shot in Model Railroader a couple of years ago where the ONLY (and I mean only) way you could tell it was a model and not the real deal was the coupler. It was the most amazing job of modeling I have ever seen. My friends didnt believe me that it was a model. The lighting, everything for that matter, was PERFECT. I still remember that shot to this day.

What do you all think of this? Its a model railroad pan shot, done on a layout without scenery.

I detailed the loco.

I did the detail work on the engines, weathered the cars, and laid some track on the layout. I am mainly a UP modeler, but I have some BN and MRL as well...

While we're at it, I figured I'd post a couple of my model railroad photos. Both of them are taken on my N scale layout, which I would post more photos of, but it's in the extremely early stages and there isn't really much to look at.

This is a shot that I took about a year ago on a diarama that has since been dismantled. It "depicts" Missouri Valley RR #5 crossing S. Main St. in Coloma, MO with coal empties for interchange. Freelance of course. The streetlights and crossing lights were added later, locomotive and building lights are real.

The locomotives look great, but most of the time the UP loco's are not as clean as those!

Great shots everyone! Here are some shots from the FVR (Fever River Railroad) HO scale club. The first shot is of my Chicago Central & Pacific Railroad GP38, numbered CCP 2005 at Galena IL. It is an older Atlas model. It is sitting next to the beautiful Galena Depot which was scrach built by one of our members. There are several photos of it in the database:

The second one is a shot of a couple of guys working on am FVR unit at the Benton (WI) Yard roundhouse. Third, we have The customed painted CCP 2005, the Custom painted athearn EJ&E GP38, and the WSOR 4002 at the engine facility in Benton Yard.. Another members Santa Fe Geep sits at the SF/FVR depot in Appleton IL. Finally, a couple of BN GP40s (Atlas) sit on a siding with a caboose. Thanks for looking! The first shot, you are riding on top of BNSF 112 as it heads into hte roundhouse. All the locos are mine except the E-unit. (If you didnt know already, I like the 70-series, especally the SD70MAC)

The next shot is looking at the through Hyperion Water Treatment Plant at the depot. Hyperion Railroad #205, an F3-LNG, prepares for the late afternoon commuter train with ex-West Coast Express #163.

Hyperion Locomotive Works is busy today as they work on Hyperion #201, a C44-9W, and a BN reefer car. #205 can be seen preparing for commuters.

The last shot is a derailment of my train. NOTHING in that shot was moved for the picture. Everything landed exactly like it is. The MAC on its side picked a switch, fell over, which somehow caused the lead loco to go into reverse and ram the train. It was really cool! Nobody was hurt, but the person in the red car was nearly crushed by a hopper.

Im in the NMRA, Pacific NW 4th Division HO-Scale Modular Club. Its your basic NMRA modular group. The first shot was taken on my modular clubs' turn table and the other 2 were taken on my old HO scale modulars. Ive since rebuilt them, but oddly, I dont have any pictures of the completed new ones. And my home layout is Plywood Pacific...

Well I'll be doing shortlines next year and pretty much my favourite shortline is the Orangeville Brampton Railway, they have one locomotive in there roster, a single high nosed GP9 ! Go Figure. So here is my own baby relaxing outside in the backyard.

She really takes after her older and much more realistic sister.
