Default Illinois-Where is the most BNSF action?

I am trying to figure out which BNSF main out here will have the most freight traffic and I just can't figure it out. Is there a lot of BNSF traffic through Rochelle? Is that an area that I should skip and go to a different mainline? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I plan to get a rental car and be out all day Saturday/Sunday for one weekend next month.

If you want a lot of BNSF action in Illinois, I recommend the Chillicothe Sub or the city of Galesburg. In Galesburg, you have the Chillicothe, Ottumwa, Mendota, Brookfield Subdivisions that come into the terminal there. Traffic through Rochelle on BNSF isn't as busy but there is some action. UP is the one that provides most of the trains through the diamond.

I'd also suggest going to Savanna. The Aurora Sub comes down on the east side of the Mississippi River and then splits into the Aurora and Barstow Sub.

Best other then midday, Sometimes dead from 10 AM to 3 PM on Sundays but then you wont get a lot high sun shots. The CP ex ICE runs both side of the river so if you see a ICE with ICE power go after that!!!!

High sun isn't an issue when you're up on the bluff.
