Default Where have you been? Part II

While thinking about some future trips, I remembered this thread I had made wayyy back in 2006, http://forums.railpictures.net/showt...ghlight=states and I realized that I have been to a few more places since then, added a few more photos to RP and of course new members have joined RP and the forums.

Note: I made the same mistake by not adding the the Canadian provinces in the numbering. Just include them in the total and if you happen to have a photo from more than 50 states and provinces combined chose the last option.

The question is North America-centric!

Not able to connect to the server right now, but I am guessing the following:

6 states/provinces: MD, VA, WV, PA, WA, IL; CA forthcoming when I get around to it

3 other countries: Belgium, France, Korea - in each case within one state-equivalent region

Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, and Hawaii make seven for me, although I've got low quality train shots from South Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Louisiana and Massachusetts.

Interesting. They would make eight for me, but maybe counting isn't your thing.

Ontario, Arkansas, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. May add Wyoming, Utah and Colorado if I ever get to uploading a few shots.

I'll blame it on being a computer programmer - we start counting at zero

For RP I'm at a rather pathetic four states (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Illinois). I also have photos from Massachusetts, Maryland, and the District of Columbia (if you want to count that as a state), but they aren't RP-worthy. And if you want to count all the crappy photos I took from Amtrak over the years, add Indiana, West Virginia, and Delaware to the list.

Thus far, 7, though I'm hoping to up that total with some recent shots. VA, WV, NH, OH, PA, ME and DC.

I guess I'm near the top of the pack with 14 states represented in the database. But then again, I've been posting stuff here since September 2003.

Interestingly, my most-represented state is not the one I live in, by more than a 3-to-1 margin.

Counting the states from which I haven't posted photos gives me another six, plus the District of Columbia, out of the 27 states and two Canadian provinces I've visited thus far.

Data base versus photographed are two very different issues... I think photographed is over forty, while data base is closer to twenty.

Countries? More like ten... what I wouldn't do to have Graham's travel-log.

A total of 3 - Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. I live 15 minutes from the Ontario border, but never cross it.

Same here, so will have to do it by country in which case I have visited 19 (all in Europe) and have pictures on RP taken in 9 (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, UK). Of the other 10 I might be able to rustle up some pictures from Luxembourg and France but that will involve gassing up the scanner.

No Alaska?! I figured you had probably photographed the Alaska RR.

Technically, there are only 49 states to photograph trains from, as I don't think anything railroad related can be seen in Hawaii.

I never got around to making the countries thread. Feel free!

A quick count gave me 33 states and told me that I REALLY need to get to Rhode Island soon as its the only state easy of the Mississippi River that I do not have a photo on RP from.

I forgot to include the Canadian provinces, which bring me to 36, whoops.

I currently have 7 states and 1 province, which should be rising in the future once I start scanning in my slide collection (what am I getting myself into).

I think the most surprising thing i found is that I don't have a single darn shot on here of my beloved home state, New Jersey. Very disappointing, I will need to work on that next time I'm visiting.

Actually, there are a couple of Hawaii sugar plantations that have railroads, including at least two that I've heard of that operate steam tourist operations. If there aren't any from Hawaii in the DB, someone better get to work on that!!!

Jon

PS - I hate flying, so don't expect me to do it soon . . .
