Default Something Different....

OK, recently, at night (i live right next to a railroad) i have been hearing a weird whistle going through. Now i have seen the train, but not good enough to get it on railpictures.net. or even to get a picture(its late!10:00pm or later). It says "The Fleetwood Express" or The Fleetwood Expresso" or something along those lines. It is green for sure. But i really do not know what else to say. Like i said the horn is unlike i ever heard on the Norfolk Southerns, UPs, CSX, BNSF or any other Major railroad.

I know this question will come to me so i will answer it right away.
I live in Blandon Pennsylvania. Which is Norfolk Reading Line/Harrisburg Line.
This train is usually 2nd in line, and is heading to Allentown (Eastbond)
It usually has several cars more then 20 but no more then 50

They obviously brought it over to the US to run on the Reading Line after dark just after a train going to Allentown.

Ben, could you post a video of this train next time you see it? That way we could be able to ID the engines and possibly figure out what train it is.

I know what you mean. it is alittle confusing. But heres an idea to the people who are posting here. If you need me to re-explain it, i will!

No. Is that your answer to everything i post? I think this is the 4th forum i did that you posted that picture in!

Oh ya thats what they are doing! you figured it out! they bring over a train all the way from Australia run it from Blandon to Allentown and then it disapears for another week! you figured it out!

Or wait! maybe its like the movie Thomas and the Magic Railroad where there is a secret vortex or something in australia that takes the train to blandon and then it goes back to australia when it gets close to Allentown!

I would love to. but it is 10:00PM or later its too dark to video tape it. If i could find a place that it goes where its nicely lit up and i can actually be, i will video tape it.

You know, the more and more i read this and what people have to say, the more i think that could be. There have been reports of ghost trains before. I really dont know. Others have seen this as well.

It's very well known that forums go in circles. I was just looking at some rumour posts about the 30D that were made less than a year after the 20D was released!

Hey Coast to Coast is great when you are driving late at night. The more you listen the more sane you realize you are.

Perhaps this is some kind of local based on the carload, but I can't figure out why it would be green.

Does it have a scheme like this?

Different individual engines of the same type can even sound different if their horn suffers damage or something changes the shape of the individual trumpets. Older units like the f's get their horns tuned and pitched during restoration on occasion.

BTW, if you're still wondering, what you saw in that "Wierd Train???" post was probably this:

http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPic...spx?id=1040113

Still not sure about this other train. I can tell you that there is no such thing as a locomotive with "Fleetwood Express" lettering or anything similar (unless somebody got a bit carried away with a spray can).

A railbox car was repainted entirely into a solid gold boxcar on 1 side before, id imagine anything else is possible

OK i will put a stop to this now. On sunday i will go to lyons at the deka ball field and tape this thing. As soon as i get home, i will upload it so everyone can see this thing. I am not gurentering that it will be really good, like most of you know about my pictures. but you know i need to show this off. What JB Cagle said is the only thing i am thinking. that this thing is a local. And why should i be banned? i did not suggest any one is on crack, threaten to kill anyone, or swear out of control.

Excuse me, Ben,
I believe if it is a weekly train, then it must be a scheduled locomotive to that train, meaning the same horn from it. Now it may be an older ex-? unit that uses an older horn, as sometimes some old GPs had some 'truckish' horns with others having those of F40PHs. A video would be helpful, but this site may be just as much:
http://www.dieselairhorns.com/sounds.html
^At this site, you can save train horn sounds to listen too, if you find a horn model that is identical, then post it here. I know a forum of train horn experts and after reviewing there posts, I'm sure they will be ENTIRELY useful. I have used them before, they have a pretty good phishing filter. I never encounter any spam or viruses from them, but still use precautions and have your internet protection provider (Norton, AVG, Spy-bot, etc...) do a safety scan before and after your done listening. If you'd like to see the forum with the 'guys' that know much of horns, well I've provided a link at the bottom.

Best Wishes,
Santa Fe buff

OK! Now first i want to say to everyone. UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO ATLEAST ATEMPT TO ANSWER MY QUESTION. DO NOT POST! It is such a waste of my freaken time to read stupid posts like "were looking into it" or "Put it Down" or "Coast to Coast". Please. Unless you are answering my question, do not post.

Secondly, the horn i am pretty sure i am hearing is the LK Lessie S3B-2a.

I have heard all types of horns and whistles. CSX , penn centrals, amtracs, and of course all types of NS's, but this one i have never heard before. It does sound lke the LK lessie s3b 2a. But do not
