Default My week 45 PCA choice

I think one of my PCA choices has won like once this year. I don't expect it to be any different this time.

This photo is a beauty. I could stare at that all day. I feel like I'm on that train and I have to lean my body to counteract the train's momentum. The train itself is perfect. no blemishes or anything along the face of the cars. It's like a dream...for sure it's a scene that will never be repeated.

Not a fan of the out the window shot in general. So I am predicting another failure in your PCA selections! Under the (crazy) assumption that everyone else's tastes match mine.

When you start your own screened website, let me know. I have several rolls of Chessie Steam Special out the window shots. Talk about hair trigger ...

Generally speaking I'm not a fan of the out of the window shots, especially on a steam special with a bunch of ugly people hanging out the window. This one has a cleanness, almost a loneliness to it.

I like this one. I'm not as big of a fan of human interest shots as some people, but this one is nice. I really like the backlighting.

This shot is FAN-F'in-TASTIC, IMO. I can't believe I've been the only one to comment on it in the past 24 hours.

Agree 100%. This one was well executed and authentic looking, unlike a lot of the ones on here that are just so blatantly fake and look like it (cleaning the headlight, helping the hot girl wearing period clothing, but has an ankle tattoo onto the train, etc, etc..)

I clicked on the thread and I blinked in surprise. Thanks Rob!

I really like your notes about loneliness, spareness, and leaning into it. I agree about those feelings. This shot just jumped at me when looking at it recently for the first time in decades. (I had completely forgotten about it.)

I might add that spot, the sharp curve just before the Hudson River tunnel was/is one of my favorite places. I can still feel the cool high speed gliding sensation that always occurs to me right there.

One note, it is not out the window; it was out the Dutch door. (Imagine that; Dutch doors!)

Currently I am in the process of digitizing my old stuff. Like many of us, I have so much stuff it is a pain to get to. Finally the pieces are in place so I can get them out of the boxes and onto my hard drive.

You may recall my article here recently on RP about how bad my rail photography was years ago. While a lot of shots did get away, I am gratified that by dumb luck and shooting for years, the acceptable pile is a lot bigger than I imagined it was.

Again thanks Rob!

And no thanks Janusz! (luv ya anyway)

Matt's shot is unlevel...unless of course that is an elevated curve in a yard.

Misread the thread, saw all the going away shots and didn't realize that everyone was putting in PCA suggestions that all happened to be coincidentally going away shots.

And originally put in one, so "here's," then added a second and forgot to revise the text.

I've been meaning to resubmit it, I swear! I promise I'll fix it if it gets a PCA.

And why is that?

Why does steam attract the shall we say, "unique" type of railfan?
