Default rain, rain..

Looks like the Eastern half of the US is pretty much covered in rain for the next few days.......who's up for the challenge?

Here's a beaut from the king of bad weather train photos:

Heh, timely thread. I'll be down on the WNYP again next week, and am kinda hoping for more of the poor weather I had in 2009. I've missed peak colour, but the poor weather can still yield some decent shots (though I'm no Travis).

Cloudy and fall color shots are great! Rain always adds a nice touch, too.

Did enough shooting in the crystal clear sunshine this 4 day weekend, you all have fun in the rain...

All that dry weather apparently overexposes your shots

Of course, along with rain, comes a few like this where the sun peeks out and highlights the storm clouds...

And some like this...

And some like this...seems like even in the afternoons (as Mike experienced with the DFT as well) on just the right day, conditions are just right for some nice mist and fog...

Enjoy...

By the way Mike, a friend of mine was down on WNYP last week, and he said the colors were just approaching peak, so you're past it, but not enough that you won't get some nice trees. They're on duty T-S now at 1200hrs, sometimes not leaving until mid-afternoon, or some days going east to hornell. Might get a nice big consist too...last Saturday they used 5 big sixes!

I love shooting in bad weather railroads run all the time rain or not...and once in a while one gets in...wish they had a rain category as they have a snow category.

Yeah, I'm in Erie as I write this and it's quite past peak. The goal is the ALCOs, so I can live without the colours. I'd prefer two or three units as it's easier to get the whole consist in a given location, but I'm not going to complain if they put a five pack out on a DFT I'm chasing!

No, but when it snows only an inch or two they close the Cajon pass to traffic.

I couldn't agree more; this whole year has been a cloudy mess. I have decided to try to figure out the key to cloudy shots.

There is no key to cloudy shots. You shoot for the enjoyment of being out in s**tty weather or you edit a** off the best of the bunch and submit here. Then await the (likely) reject

I had one rejected for cloudy... in the middle of a snowstorm. I appealed and got it in, but it really makes one wonder.
