Do you see what I'm seeing?

I can't really come up with the 'technical' term, but doesen't the train look 'choppy'?

Sorry for calling it out, great shot, but the photo is effed up...(From what I see)

Something's wrong... Possibly (really just guessing) the glare on the cars was even stronger and it was an attempt to stitch different exposures (in the RAW) together?

Honestly don't know, but it looks like something was cut and pasted.

Looks like he either tried to do a rotation in paint, or rotated the photo after he'd resized it already, and the image processing program didn't have enough pixels to work with.

Those cars were built in the CN shops in Canada by the looks of it.

My question is, how can a screener tell at first glance that my picture needs a 0.001 degree rotation and somehow miss something like this?

I guess a more accurate signature would be "Banned Street Running Gangsta of RP!"

It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

I was wondering about this photo:

Almost looks like is suffering from something similar, look how choppy the lettering looks on the locomotive. Also, what is up with the front wheels.

I think the letters on the steam engine are legit, they just did a bad job applying them. I think he did a very bad job selectively brightening the drivers, that shouldve warranted a overprocessed rejection.

Troy;

Hot as hell, typical for the south in July. Same forecast pretty much everyday. Chance of thunderstorms, some heavy, in the afternoon into the evening. I haven't been having much luck with trains in the area. Even the locals have wide nose (usually GEs) on point, though NS does keep a few high hood GPs around and CSX is using one road slug and mother here lately.

As to the steamer with the light drivers - that's the kind of over processing that I found myself doing when I first got an editing program. I understand the desire to do it (it's a perfect shot, except for the high sun), but it does look odd (which is why I don't bother anymore - even for shots that are just for the personal collection).

Lightbulb Wow....

That is a nice shot but the pixelation is awful.

I am surprised they didn't see it, except whomever screened it must of really liked it and let it through by looking at the thumbnail - I assume.

Perhaps someone should PM the photog for the original shot and suggest he upload an "improved" version?
