Default Your 06/06/06 Photo...

In keeping up with all the hype about today's date I decided to present another opportunity for everyone to share one of your photos. This time I looked back through mine and found the one that was closest to 666 views. Here it is:

Hopefully, most will participate and I look forward to seeing your "devilish" work. LOL. I am extremely curious to know the whereabouts of CSXT 666, EJE 666, BNSF 666 and KCS 666. Maybe will someone will get lucky enough to catch one today!

I shot a huge, blazing textile mill fire today. Does that count? It's been out of control for about ten hours. I don't have a way to work on the stills right now though.

This shot was closest at 670 views at the time of this post; it's also one of my favorites from last year.

I was shocked to find mine was not UP. Of course, the two closest were SP steam and an unpatched D&RGW Geep...a fitting theme on 6 Jun 06 for two railroads before they got infected with cancer...

I shot a massive textile mill fire on 06-06-06 that is still literally burning almost 36 hours after the firefighters first arrived on scene.

If you're looking for a train related aspect, the closest I can come up with is that Seaboard served this place until the early 80s.

None of my photos on here are anywhere near - but would you take a trip behind a loco numbered 666?

Great pictures Joe. Especially the second one. I like how you can see the flames glowing inside the smoke.

Thanks for the props, Thomas. You should be hearing about this fire down in your part of the state, or at least seeing it on WIS. The whole town has now officially been evacuated and Gov. Sanford has declared it a disaster area. For a news hound like me, it's resume tape gold!!!

And get this. My dog, Rusty, (yellow lab) had his sixth birthday on 6-6-06!

ATSF 666 was renumbered to BNSF 599 at the request of crews.

In a similar vein British Rail 47216 was involved in a minor accident in the 1980's after which a clairvoyant said that whilst the loco carried that number it would always have bad luck.
It was renumbered 47299, but around two years later was badly damaged in a fatal collision. It was repaired and returned to service (as 47299) but was always considered to be a jinxed loco.
