Default Front door tracks...

I remember seeing a couple of shots on this site that showed houses built extremely close to tracks...or maybe the house was there first and then came the railroad. I have done some looking but can't seem to find the photos. Anyone able to help?

Closest one I have ever seen was in Union Bridge, MD at the end of the street running on Farquhar St. The train was also coming down a 2 percent grade with loaded cement hoppers from the Lehigh plant. Many times I thought to myself this house was a goner if the train derailed.

From the cab, as you came down the street, the locomotive was perfectly aimed at that house, and the tracks curved to the right just before it. All history, as the street running is gone, but the house still stands.

Great job on the album, Derek - one of the better ones, for sure, both in subject and selection. Maybe admin will allow favoriting or another method of bring the better ones to the surface.

As for a house close to the tracks -

Here are two I took that come to mind:

Thanks, Mitch. I'm actually very selective about what I add to it. I try not to just add every street running picture I see into it. Here are the two shots that gave me the idea:

The comment on the DT&I shot gave me the name of it. I love railfanning in places like that.
