E. St. Louis has a lot of trackside girls. I guess I'm just lucky that I can watch trains there often.

At least they call themselves girls right?

If it's got big hands and an adam's apple I would bet it's not realy a girl! lol

Well guys I've tied the knot twice. Now #1 was quite enthusiastic about trains and we used to take trips quite often; certainly she would tolerate sitting by the tracks for an hour waiting for the train to show up.

#2 made me promise never to drag her round railroad museums or to make her go on train trips. But every year I get two or three weeks' freedom to "get it out of my system". I'm also allowed to spend what I want on camera gear and travel. Aside from my annual "hard-core" trip, the rest of the year railfanning is pretty much a hit & miss affair.

In hindsight, #1 might look like the ideal railfan's wife, and #2 not. But do I regret moving on? Not for one nanosecond. Do I regret marrying #2? Not for one nanosecond. The second section is always better

There's more to life than trains (though at 16 I might have thought differently). Buyer beware!

Yeah it's always nice to have your own things other than the household chores she doesn't want to do!

An old thread revived, but I couldn't help it!

Single, I have to unfortunately say! My last girlfriend tried to take me away from railways. Dumped me for someone else, a few months later. Though, she ended up being a little odd. Had ideas of building a secret army. I sure know how to attrack 'em!

Still happily married after 32 years. We met in high school.
Although she did laugh when I started chasing trains with my camera in hand this past spring. That was until I drew a parallel to fishing. So now she supports my "hobby" and is even getting me a wide angle lens for Christmas.
The saw off is - I support her quilting ventures.

I wonder if she will let me buy a scanner?

Talking Married

Married for 25 years. My wife is still waiting for me to "grow up". I've been a railfan for 40 years, and she always knows that I'll find a way to pass Enola Yard en-route to anywhere.
