L Train "Too Far Away" In Downtown Chicago?

The train is not even a strong secondary element in the composition. First main pull of the eyes is the bridge (and it's cropped off). Second is the Chicago Sun Times Building, then the eyes wander to the background to the Willis Tower, than scanning some more.. oh look.. a train. The train isn't real close to a line of interest so it's lost, forgotten, appearing as nothing more than an afterthought to the capture.

You also have serious exposure issues in the highlight areas, along with some big time vertical distortion.

Even tho you are a CTA guy, the best chance would be to emphasize the historic bridge as the subject in the text, last used to access the sun times but I think if you dig, it was used to reach the original C & NW downtown terminal. I got several bridges in with no train.

However, you cut off the bottom and top of the bridge.

Having said that even tho I usually like your photos I don't think this is a very good take on a popular Chicago location even tho I see you got there on the nearest longest day to get the right sun.

I have attached one of mine, train still far away.
Disclaimer: quick edit for sample only and with a 24mm AIS.
Could also try a vertical, I have a few but would take more time than I want to spend processing.

Added: Always the Sears tower to me, took son and friend there and it was foggy so you got half price but just went for the ride.
They loved it, such a deal.

Thanks for the suggestions. It was an old shoot. I will give it a try this June although there's been a lot of construction going on there.

That scene is going to need something much stronger than a hardly visible "bus on rails" to get accepted.

I like the shot, but it would be better if the bridge were not cropped. I think the old RR bridge makes the shot, at least for me. Life is not 3/4 wedgies.....

The bridge being cut off at an awkward angle is the biggest issue, you either need to go wider and the whole thing in or zoom in closer like one of the posters above did. Also realizing how much that new skyscraper sucks....not only did it ruin the great shot of Metra Milwaukee trains departing Union but it blocks out the Sears tower in this angle.

That's a bummer. I didn't see the thread in question, but IMO I can understand not wanting call outs of screeners, but I don't see why other contributors shouldn't be allowed to discuss and critique accepted photos. I've seen many times where it resulted in a reupload with the issue in question fixed.

It was a very polite question, I made a reply that I thought it was not a problem and that was the last I saw of it.

For over 30 years in business one of my least pleasant tasks was dealing with customer complaints. However, it comes with the territory and was also where I learned the most about my business. Hear no evil, see no evil is not a good policy, didn't work too well for GM and if it isn't good for GM.
