Default What happened?

I know a shot that I didn't have time to set up for. Shot on P and highlights blown out, what I can't figure out what happen to the color in the outlined area?

The only explaination I have is that it could be the shadow of the loco, but that's doubtful...

It looks like chromatic aberration to me. So-called ‘purple fringing’ is essentially due to lens longitudinal chromatic aberration, causing the blue or/and red channel to be slightly defocused with respect to the green channel. When only the blue is out of focus, fringes appear blue. When both red and blue are defocused, fringes appear purple. Purple fringing is more visible close to backlit parts of the image, where the contrast is maximal.

It looks nothing like CA, it's too big, shaped wrong, and not on any other part of the image...
how cropped is this? Also, exif?

Some kind of shadow or lens flare? Can't see it but the sun is partly in the shot.
