What makes a good to great photo for you, For me its all Light, Dramatic lighting the kind that RPnet calls back light and is for me side light. I know its problematic for them as the newbies say they got that in I want mine in to. I do have a photo to show and tell thats on here but not looking for views.

This shot I didn't have to do much to it, mostly contrast that I had to add after lightened it to get the snow white. In a bright scene with this much light I find the dark side works to add drama to a photo.

You know that has to be a kick in the pants to runs a heavy train through a snow drift.

Off topic: This happened in 1978. He had just bought a used 4 wheel drive truck and was plowing through snow drift and ran smack into a fire hydrant. That's not gonna happen running a train though.

Back on topic: I like the swirling snow after the lead motor runs by. Very cool effect.

Good composition, good light (Could be almost anything, depending on the circumstances) great colour (or lack thereof) and perfect contrast.
What's that? You mean I can't just say it depends? =(
