Default Railfanning Milwaukee

I'll be in Milwaukee the second week in July... anyone have any "touristy" railfan spots to shoot. When I say touristy I mean places that are easy to get to, safe, won't be bothered, and yet see trains in photogenic areas.

Thanks.

Duplainville outside of Milwaukee is a great place to photograph. Double track CP main line crosses a CN main line. I'd recomend parking on Marjean road. This link should help more.

Also some WSOR and Amtrak action depending on when your there.

Thanks for that site... some great info.

New question... do CP trains run through this spot or just Amtrak?

Seems very tight for freight traffic, but I have seen photos of the CP running through there. I ask because most of our time will be near Marquette. Does CP run through there or through the yard to the south?

If you like yard work. There is a nice CP yard just a little east of Miller Park (Milwaukee Brewers baseball). Follow any of the signs to the potawatomi casino (1721 W Canal St) or the ballpark from the expressway. There is limited parking next to the yard itself, but there is a cement walking/biking trail that follows the tracks, so if you don't mind walking a little you can park in one of the lots for the ballpark, it's less then 2 miles from the west end of the yard. Good luck.
