Thumbs up Poll: Favorite Fallen-Flag

I know this may be a weird/cheap rip-off of a poll recently posted by Jon Wisnieski but it got me thinking; what is my favorite fallen-flag? And what is everyone elses favorite fallen-flag?

There are so many possible roads to pick from that making a poll with a small handful like you have is just a waste

CNW all the way, but you forgot a lot of important ones, ATSF, BN, WC, SOO, MILW, SP, C&O, etc. But once again the Chicago Northwestern all the way.

How about the PALATINE, LAKE ZURICH & WAUCONDA RAILROAD or even the more well known CHICAGO & NORTHWESTERN lines ????

It'd be better to go by region, like Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, Northwest.

For me, it'd be GTW, or DWP, or CV, or DRGW, or NP, or ATSF, or WC, or MP, or SOO, or TH&B... aww, do I have to pick just one?

Just wondering Joe, but when did the Norfolk and Southern become a fallen flag.

Note that nickname applies not only to the WP but also to the Gateway Western.

One could argue that it should also apply to Penn Central and any other 1970s RR with really bad track!

Red face

Never new there was Norfolk & Southern, just always thought there was the NS that came from the merger of the Southern and the Norfolk & Western, which I now know includes the old one.

Well, if you want to be technical about it, there's not been a Norfolk & Southern that I am aware of. (As Andrew alluded to, there have been two Norfolk Southerns.)

Of course, some of us here in these parts see your handle and might think, "this guy liked the Carolina & Northwestern, too!"

Looks like prior to 1910 the ampersand was in fact in place. At times in both "Railway" and "Railroad" forms, as long as we are being particular.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norfolk...y_%28former%29

If people differentiate between "&" and "and", then I am staying out of it! Actually, I'll stay out of it anyway, this is all just from a quick web search anyway.

These people are into it, however:

I have to base my favorite fallen flags off of what ive read or seen photos of because most were long gone before I was born.

My favorite two were the Wabash and the CB&Q. Both had very sharp looking E and F Units.
