Default Steam in Seattle?

Hey, I'm aware that SP 4449 and UP 844 are coming up to Seattle around the 18th of this month, but I heard a very strange sound tonight. I was walking across the University of Washington campus and heard a train whistle. Since I'm so close to Interbay train yard this is a common event. Except this time it wasn't your typical Leslie or AirChime whistle, this was a steam whistle. It really sounded like a train whistle (after spending a day watching 4449 in Portland, I've gotten used to the sound), although there are boats nearby and I suppose it could have come from some sort of steam boat , but it sure as hell sounded like it was coming from the yard.
Does anyone "in the know" have any news about this or am I just going senile?

Most likely you heard the steamship "Virginia V" or one of the other local steamers.

Otherwise, nothing railroad/steam related is scheduled through until the UP steam excursions in May.

Ah, good point. Didn't think there were any steam ships operating in the area. Nearly crapped my pants when I heard that.
