I agree, but these rails wouldn't have much of one. They currently are and always have been the end of a 12 mile grain branch. Sadly, they will soon probably be up for abandonment

Hopefully they'll be moved elsewhere rather than scrapped.

Wow! That is pretty old! I seem to always stumble on old rail from 1923/4 and 1913 down at New Brighton.

We have some track near a grain elevator dated 1912-1916. In our Barnes yard I have seen track dated late 30s early 40s. I think Barnes was layed down during WW2. I sould check out some of the dates at Brooklyn. Brooklyn was layed down in the 1890s, and you know how SP liked to maintain its track.

I see those old dates like that and I think sheesh steam rolled over this stuff!

There's some on the Argonne Branch from 1898, still sees a train a day every day except Saturday(usually) and Sunday.

We have an excursion railroad in Freeport which runs on track from 1894, and maybe even older. Here is a video clip of that railroad. This works best with a high speed connection:
