Horizon unlevel and bad cropping - advice needed please

I had this shot rejected for horizon unlevel:

I figured the tall smokestack was the problem, also the conveyor housing on the left, so I used the lens distortion filter tool in PS to get the verticals right. I resubmitted, and now I have a bad cropping reject:

If bad cropping was the problem, I would have expected that rejection first. Any ideas anyone?
