Default Real Pictures That Look Like Model Trains

It amazes me when people get pictures of real scenes that look like they are straight out of a model railroad.

It's amazing what you see when you get high.

It would have to be a humongous layout to accommodate everything in the photo. That's why they invented 'selective compression.'

Bob E - not really - it's N gauge. You can even see the plastic mold casting line running right down the center of the diesel from nose to cab... and yes, for the way too literal, I am joking - it's a very interesting shot.

So this is an actual model railroad picture? I wonder if the screeners knew that?

BTW, don't try to discuss this one, your head will get bit off. I say that from experience. Lol

Calling Jean-Marc -

Missing RP photo album!

I can't imagine how someone would pull those out from the past and add to
a photo album.

I tried to discuss it a year or two ago and was accused of "calling him out." And by a good few.

What were you trying to discuss?

It does look like a highly detailed model. Where's the crew? There is motion blur of the ground- could it be a pusher set?

I remember the occurrence of that discussion of that shot.

Jim, excuse me, but your question seems silly, or I am missing something. What they were trying to discuss, IIRC, was whether the shot was real or a model.

Another nominee for the thread: a shot that looks like a model with a photo background, really cool effect.

That's what I wanted to know, because it's obviously real. So, what was HE trying to discuss?

What makes it so obviously real? I'm not saying it is fake, either. I was just discussing some interesting points.

You should have used your 25 foot tri-pod to get more elevation. Danneman could have helped you with the set-up. He lives close by and it would have satisfied his curiosity about it too!

When I look at it, I know it's real. What else do you need to know.

And if there are interesting points (I'm guessing supporting it being a fake), it sounds as if you're not 100% in belief yourself.

I haven't posted a shot on flickr in a couple of months. It's not that I don't have time, it's that I'm not motivated. I have a huge backlog of pics, and I normally don't like posting out of order (OCD), and I find it easier to be lazy.

Well, I was already about 50 feet up on top of a narrow rock structure, holding on tight so as to not get blown off by the strong winds, so I'm not sure my tall tripod would have worked well up there. : -)

So what if a shot made the train look like a model. How is that calling anyone out? That's lame! If someone pulled up a shot of mine and said, "gee, Ron....this looks like a model." I would probably say, "Yep....it shore does!" Same thing if you got this: "gee, Ron....this photo looks like a dog turd." I would probably say, "Thanks, Mitch...."

Apparently many people just look for ways to be ticked off about something.

Ron, a lot of your photos look like models trains. I'm calling shenanigans on you!

Lol - I know that feeling - hence many never ending series from New Hope, Morrisville and recently the R&N (Sorry! - but then again, I like to judge a pic on it's own merits, not on what's before or after).

On the other hand - I've slowly coming to the realization - acceptance, lol, that I can simply sort (RP is a great database) by date taken. Voila! And y'know, after a few weeks, the photos are pretty deeply buried in the database anyway.

You can recycle the deeply buried images on Flickr (unlike here!) that didn't get much attention (hopefully with improved versions).
You can rearrange your photos as well by changing upload dates. I tried one as a test, and it worked.

I'll have you know, I finally found some motivation and uploaded 27 photos to flickr today. I still have a couple dozen more to go.
