Default For admins - are 8:10 crops no longer encouraged?

This is the second time I get this rejection on an 8:10 crop. I got it on just after with a 5:7 crop. Maybe the 5:7 works better, I have no problem with the rejection. But, I would like to know for going forward, are 8:10 crops no longer encouraged? Or was there some other size problem with my upload?

Size (Dimensions): In most cases, our prefered image aspect ratio is anywhere between 4:3 and 16:9 (1024x683-768, or 1200x800-900 pixels). Exceptions are made for images shot on older square-format film, or where the unusual aspect ratio has been applied for artistic/creative reasons.

I think the cut off is having to scroll to get the entire image on the screen, at least it is in my view. My screen resolution is 1440x990.

FWIW your image is more square than 8X10 too, am I right? I would say maybe 8.25x 10, getting pretty square.

All that said I really wish that rp had some form of automatic sizing for the viewers screen like Flickr, 500PX, etc all have.

I use iPhoto and according to it I was cropping 8:10, but I'm starting to wonder lol.

It looks square, but it is within the range of the correct size ratio.

Looking at the data it is 819 x 1000 which may not seem like much but I think makes it more square than you want to go.

Personally I don't go beyond 1024 x 768 or a 4:3 crop which was so common on computers untill wide screen became en vogue. Normally I go 1024 x 683 which is 6:4. 4 x 6 or 8 x 12 both transfer over quite well to computers, 8 x 10 just doesn't IMO.

Cool

I use 8x10 a lot because I'm an old darkroom photographer and 8x10 was kind of a standard so a lot of my images are that size. When I post 8x10 images to RP I size them 950 px horizontally to keep the vertical under 800 px. That seems to be acceptable.
