Default Vegas SNOW!!

Well.. ain't this a doozie!

We're currently under a Winter Storm Warning in Vegas, with 3 on the ground and 6-12 predicted overnight! Worst snow here since '79, they say! Notice the downed tree in my front yard.. the pool old weeping willow couldn't take the weight of the snow!

Assuming any trains are running on the LA&SL tomorrow, I'll be out, camera in hand to capture this truly once in a lifetime event!

Chris, you might want to clean the sensor before you head out tomorrow, then again maybe snowflakes just look like that out there

I don't know about Henderson, but we got about 2-3 inches up in Summerlin last Monday, and we'll probabaly get the worst of it tonight being almost 1000 feet higher than the strip. It was snowing for a while today, but right now it's raining. Be interesting to see what happens, as when I lived in Kansas, we only got 6+ inches once that I can remember.

If you go out on the LA&SL tomorrow, good luck. Pitiful traffic combined with trackwork north of Vegas mean only 2-3 freights in daylight.

That's what my shots looked like too...that very thought entered my mind.

Looks like you're ready to host that "Ladies of RailPictures.net" pool party. Truck in a small piece of narrow gauge equipment and you'd end with a setting that could get several PCA's.

Good luck w/ your snow chase.

Wow! Fantastic photographs, Chris. I barely recognise your house with all of that snow! Looks like wonderful conditions for a snowball fight!

How'd you do? Can you compete with a "run of the mill" Minnesota storm?

When I made my report to NOAA with my back yard weather station, on the evening of the 17th the snow fall had reached 5 inches in the older section of Henderson. Currently as of today the surrounding hill sides and a number of homes and streets still have snow on them. Here's two from my neighborhood and a shot of Sunset Station taken 12-18 and the night shot 12-17...Ken
