I agree - some photos are just dogs where as others are not even if there is a dog in the shot.

And just imagine the crowd that would've been behind her if she was wearing a Conrail shirt or had on a safety vest or something.

Good grief. Odd that the screeners have been nowhere to be seen in this thread. One might think that they don't know where to begin with their damage control efforts.
This photo getting on to the site is completely indefensible. It's not even newsworthy.
Of course, it has drawn more than 5000 views, so, that in and of itself might tell us all we need to know.

Quoted for truth!
This comedy routine is kind of crude but it so well illustrates foamers even if it is talking about star wars geeks. All the same.

I don't even have to click on this to assume it must be Triumph The Insult Dog... guess not.
In that case, go look up Triumph The Insult Dog at a Star Wars Convention... hilarity will ensue.

It's a preview of next year's event. Streamliner Tailcars.

Right on. RP is a profit making site. Revenue is undoubtedly tied to traffic, and the screeners probably have a pretty good idea of what will attract hits. So crap like this has a leg up. Which is also probably why so many mediocre wedgies get in, there seem to be a lot of rivet counters and number collectors out there. C'est la vie.

You know, as bad as that first shot is, and how corny I think the second shot of the redhead is, neither one of those are degrading to women... get a grip. The first one, maybe could be considered creepy, but you are making some assumptions.
Now if she was flopping out her juggs and pandering to the horny, awkward male demographic, then I would say you might have a point. But I dont see that here.
Should the shots have made it through screening? The first one, no... the second one, probably not. But neither one of these are degrading.
I would say the "canoe" shot was more degrading, because it was blatantly pandering to the hornball railfan
Now, I saw another woman Saturday, had to be in her late 20's, huge DD boobs hanging out, tats, lots of makeup... if someone did a closeup of those cans with some locomotive in the background or something like that, yea, that might be degrading... I would still click on it though, not gonna lie

They'd probably get more hits and traffic if the site didn't keep locking up or crashing browsers because of malicious pop-ups or bad scripts in ads.
As far as the images in question go, the first one would never have gotten on if it was just the choo-choos, but I have no problem with the second one.

I generally lay back in these, "Oh my God how did this crap get on" circle jerks of self-pity, but that first photo (not the second one - I'm fine with the NKP shot), but that first one - I frankly wouldn't even download it off the card. It's so hideously bad and, unless posed, creepy that I have to pipe in and ask, What the Eff?

It's using women for some quick views. Certainly not degrading in the traditional "selling their bodies" sense, but degrading nonetheless.
Don't get me wrong, I'm the first one to enjoy pictures of beautiful women. RP just isn't the venue for that.

Has no one here really ever heard of Railgirls?

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

If the subjects of any of these so-called "degrading shots" do not feel degraded by them, then no one else's opinion matters. Just my opinion anyway. As for the quality of these two shots - you might think they're not quite up to what we're used to here, but just go look at 95% of those oldie-moldie slide scans that everybody slathers over. I mean, really!

Oh my god I'm guilty also. But it got a lot of hits! And it could have been rejected for any number of technical reasons.

It's clearly not about the chick...you could have had a 300-pound fat blob on that rail cycle and it still would have generated hits as that's a pretty cool contraption!

So some women enjoy obese middle aged balding men making crude comments about their headlights and cabooses? I guess it takes all kinds.
Still creepy.

I can't say the shot is degrading to women. It's just a lame shot. A shot taken and posted on here just to get a high view count.

Which, if you read between the lines of the recent comments from the site owners, is what it's all about...

The NKP shot gave my a chuckle because of it's cheesecake tendencies as well as the red head's dress matches the locomotive! Tom's shot of who may or may not be his wife (if you believe the comments) is really bad. Take out the woman and you'd have a screener fussing and cussing about the bad shots he's having to screen. I don't even think the nose end of the UP motor being turned right would help the shot.
But it's at almost 6,000 views, so all is well with RP tonight.
