Default Contrast, too much or too little?

This was the first photo I've ever appealed out of my many many rejections. I was really hoping to get some feedback from whoever looks at the appeal, but didn't get any comments. Which way should I go with it? More contrast or less?

I'm not a fan of the shot. The composition leaves a lot to be desired, there's a sliver of a blue box car on the left side and judging from the switches in front of the engine, the shot needs leveling CW.

As for the contrast, it looks like the shot was slightly over exposed and the colors are just a tad washed out.
