Default Question about signals

Fellow Railfans

I'm hoping someone can answer this for me. I drive Kensington Rd. between Updyke and Long Lake Rd. in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. This is Canadian Nationals' Holly Subdivision. There is a signal post you can see from Kensington Rd. There is a green signal all day long. I know there are not enough trains running on the Holly Sub. for the signal to stay green all day. Hmmmmmm

I cannot speak for that specific spot, but the signs there could be ABS (Automatic Block Signaling) so for it showing clear is correct, since nothing is on the blocks ahead.

What would be the purpose of showing a clear block if no trains are approaching?

I'm not a signals guy.

Isn't it the case that some or lots of signals just show their aspect 24/7 rather than being responsive to whether there is a train present nearby?

Yes, the signal would display the aspect for the condition of the block constantly.
