I just added you to my Flickr list. Looking at your shots, I have no idea why being "accepted" to RP is so important to you.

It's not that important but the manner in which I have been treated is.
As for coming to the States this summer I was there last month, 2 weeks along the I-40 corridor in NM and AZ. I will be over in North Bay Ontario in October and am planning to come Stateside for 12 days. Thinking that New England in the Fall would be nice unless someone has a better suggestion

New England is way more than nice in the fall.
Just keep in mind that train density is low on many lines, and hotel/motel accommodations can be very full during the peak foliage.

True, and weather can be very unpredictable in terms of getting good light.
What part of New England? If your going to Western MA, I used to live there and I've done a lot of traveling and scouting for photo locations I'd be happy to share.

ALL light is good, it's just a question of using it properly.

A better suggestion? The Dakotas in deep winter. Lots of trains, VERY dramatic!

Well said Mitch. I don't think RP has adapted for the times. As Bob Dylan sang:
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

I'm sort of in the area, might be able to hook up but if not I can at least recommend some shooting spots if you don't already have an idea of what you want (assuming of course you'll be out chasing some trains and not tied up with visiting friends or family functions). I'll PM you when I get a chance - in the meantime here's a facebook group that keeps tabs on all the goings-on in and around North Bay. It's a closed group but if you explain you're visiting from overseas and ask to join and it shouldn't be a problem. You can reference me if you wish. https://www.facebook.com/groups/250796898279204/

No, some is just easier to work with. The easiest light for me is very soft light, such as on a snowy day. Can't go wrong! The hardest light for me to use well is a bright sunny afternoon.

If camera sensors could capture the same range of light as the human eye, sunny photography would be much easier.

True, but my biggest issues is that with bright light, I have to deal with where the shadows fall. The shot has to be entirely planned around the direction of the light, unless I want to begin using fill flash on trains. (Have done it but it's a lot of work! )

How did you find that out? Welcome back and glad that RP at least eventually responded in a reasonable way.

Being an optimist, I was hoping that maybe management actually emailed you, suggesting the existence of human life. It is easy to get the impression this place is run by some kind of evil droid. But at least you are back. That is good.

I was thinking the same thing. Flickr is now generating tags automatically, so maybe an auto-screener is online here.
Regardless, Chase posted twice, so that's probably it for a couple of months.
