Default Gallery: Night Shots

Since I didn't see a gallery of Night shots, here goes nothing. I want to see good night shots and especially moon (celesitial body, not body parts) shots.
Here is the kickoff shot:

I can't give you any moonshots (I'll leave those to Prince Fielder), but here are some moon-lit shots:

I'm not much of a night shooter. Here's a favorite, despite of or in small part because of the grain:

And of the very few others, here's one that I found interesting to take pains to do well, in terms of getting things to line up and placed in the frame:

This one was a fun night. Started at the West End Overlook. Too many undesireables after midnight. Left and started for this location. Knew where I wanted to go, but not how to get here. I got pulled over by PD. Had my 9mm under my armrest because it was uncomfortable with it in my waistband driving. LEO didn't drag me out through the window, and told me how to get to this location to boot. No fine either. See, they're not all bad.

This was my first try, and I was happy with the result for a first effort at night, especially with the 20 mph wind to challenge me.

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

Point n Fails dont do real good at night, the combination of a max 15 second exposure and massive amounts of grain even at ISO 80 make it hard to do any decent night shots.

This shot was my first attempt at time exposures with a Digital Camera. I have been shooting Digital Since 05', but I always used slide film for night photography instead of digital.
When I am out by myself somewhere and there's not enough existing light I fall back on my dwindling supply of #11 flash bulbs. Someday hopefully I can't get a lymedyne system. Deano
