OK. I'm not being a smartass, but check out some of the paintings done by the Dutch Masters...look at the composition, placing of subject, size of subject, lighting, background objects, etc. Or study some of Mike Danneman's work:

Hopefully you will see that your photo is kind of "blah" in the composition department.

What a helpful comment.

To me the subject is the two F-units, at least that's where my eyes want to go -- but they're too far right, and centered horizontally. The left side is kind of clutered, and that pole isn't very pleasing.

Do you have a shot taken from further to the right, showing the F-units more head-on?

Seriously? Are you expecting him to match up to Mike Danneman's work? Instead of telling him his photo is "blah", constructive criticism might be nice.

Ill go first, not every one can be Dannerman, especially not on the first try, agreed a rather pointless and stupid comment, is that going to be the generic response to any photo rejection here, make it look like Dannermans? The scene is good but the way you shot it left a bit to be desired. I agree with Magicman, the wire is annoying, if you have a shot without it in the way that would be better, if not crop that bit of the pole sticking out.

Nowhere did I say do what Mike Danneman does. I said study the masters of composition if you want to improve your own composition. I'm not a big fan of telling someone how to make their art. Believe it or not, I'm trying to be helpful, thus the preface, "I'm not being a jackass." Apparently I was! Oh well.

Yes, you were, and it isn't like you have generally been bad in the forum, so it seemed to be a very odd post. It's not like the person asked to get better at the photography, he wants advice on that one image. Usually the case in this forum; although supplementary advice is often well received, if actually supplementary.

Alright, my apologies. It was not my intention to offend anyone. Quite the opposite.

I think that if he has room, he should expand on both sides a tad and maybe take some off the bottom. If not, the picture should be kept for personal uses. Next time I would recommend not zooming in and if he wasn't, backing off the subjects some.
