Default B&O Cast Iron Whistle Post help???

I just aquired a B&O cast iron whistle post. It is all one color...rust. I am wanting to clean it up and paint it back to the authentic B&O way. I know the face is going to be white with a black W. I'm questioning the actual post, the edge around the head of the face and the lip that it creates on the face, and the back of the face where the B&O stamp and cast number(???) is. Is the B&O stamp distinguished with the contrasting color, or is the whole back solid? The head is pentagon shaped, and is fairly uniform in size. At the very tip of the top point, it curves to the point. I've searched the 'net, and our own B&O photos here hoping someone had included one with no avail. All I seem to be able to find pictures of are the concrete signs. I didn't know if some of you 'vintage' photographers would have one in any of your photos or could just help from knowledge.

Thanks!

Thought I'd snap a few pics of it for a better description. Sorry for the excellent quality. I'm at work and only have my cell.

Response from a private list in which I posed the question:

Quote:
As far as I know, the entire post and back of sign would be solid black...the only white would be the background of the "W" on the front. That's the usual practice in the Northeast! But I'm sure he could paint the "B&O" and casting numbers on the back white if he wanted to and it would look good.

Ya gotta love cast iron!

Thanks, J. I got numerous replies in the B&O Yahoo Group too. One even supplied a pic of one still in use.
