Default What is cj.com?

I keep seeing this site as linking to some of the recent photos I've uploaded. Checked it out and I don't see why it would be... anyone else notice this?

At one point yesterday afternoon, all of the top/24 photos had a referral from that site. Curious.

My guess (purely a guess) is that it is providing the advertising and somehow there is a click through or something along those lines that registers as a referral.

go to cj.com, Commission Junction, and find out for yourself! Basically, what Charles said.

Oddly, I have a nothing special shot that has 56 views coming from there (out of a total of 329). I wonder what the mechanism is that is making this happen. My shot isn't one of those shots that a bunch of people would be talking about.

[I apologize to Carl for my previous post, months ago, disrespectful. I didn't find out an answer from their website either! I too "don't see why it would be"

I think this is just an anomaly coming from one of our advertisers. Not sure why it would be happening, but I've programmed a little bit of code that should stop this URL from showing up in every photo's Detailed History page.

These links are (or were, if the new code is effective) simply spam - "referrer spam," to be more exact. To quote from the Wikipedia entry on this type of spam:

Quote:
The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referrer url that points to the site the spammer wishes to advertise. Sites that publicize their access logs, including referrer statistics, will then end up linking to the spammer's site, which will in turn be indexed by the search engines as they crawl the access logs.
There's a little bit more information about cj.com, one of the worst offenders of this kind of spam, on a StopForumSpam discussion here.

I dont know if it's still happening or not, but the same thing was happening from one of your airplane picture website domains too.
