Default Camera Insurance??

Hi everybody,

I just bought a Digital Rebel XT and before I invest in some lenses, is there such thing as camera insurance? DSLR's ain't cheap and just in case something happens I want to be as safe as possible. It might seem ridiculous to insure it if possible but I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If you own a house and are paying homeowners insurance, specific items of high individual value (such as cameras and lenses) can easily be added to the policy for only a few dollars per year.

The same is also true of Renter's Insurance, as I added my D70 and it's lenses to the policy, and there was actually no change in premium. Most insurance companies ask you to update your personal possessions listing on an annual basis. Just did mine back in February, and generally they'll send you a letter explaining, what if anything they do not cover.
