Default Spent a day and a half in the queue

Shot sat in the #1 position in the queue since Thursday morning. Nothing revolutionary about it. No different than anything else I submit. No idea what the issue was.

I deleted it from the queue.

That happens to me once in a blue moon. It seems that one screener is on the fence and thus delegates it to next screener, lather, rinse repeat. I usually pull and resubmit when that happens.

Yes, it happens, but 1.5 days is excessive. But a holiday weekend is upon us and perhaps both of the Chris's headed off for long weekends. My understanding/belief is that 2nd opinions are handled by them only, not any of the other screeners.

You are correct J. Any coin flips are sent to Chris (s).

How do you remove a photo from the queue? I accidentally made a mistake in editing that I only noticed after I submitted the photo.

Use the option in members section which says...Edit Queued Photo

Make changes to the data associated with your photos in the queue, or delete a queued photo.
You need to enter your submitted photo no. So better copy it first before using the option.

I'm batting .000 for those hand-offs, so it seems like an omen of doom.

I think they are now only looking for photos of trains that are street running.

Haven't you seen the warnings?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that, Mitch!

Isn't this the nature of the beast. Jumping on trends, not only in railroad stuff just in general. RR- photography - looking back. Big zoom tele shots, glint shots, crossing gates time lapse going up and down, motion streak of light shots, little kids watching the train shots, signals with stars, etc etc and will not mention one other. Smile.

Cool Curious?

I have had several pix get hung-up in the queue for a day or two. Initially I was paranoid and conjured up all kinds of conspiracy theories. The first one or two I deleted. But by the third or forth time I was into the who gives a shit phase of my relationship with the screeners....and they were ultimately accepted. But it is kind of curious that an image could get hung up for that long. On the other hand, there are all kinds of curious things about RP. But as I've said before, despite the worts I rather enjoy the game.

I've had the same experience quite a few times. Then again, I've also had it where I sent a photo in with say 20 photos in the queue and it get immediately accepted with no other photo in the queue touched for hours.

Hi Jon,

I didn't say this in my initial post, but this "stuck at #1 in the queue" thing happens to me all the time, particularly when the image is submitted in the morning. It almost never happens at night. I have also had the same experience as you, in which a shot I've loaded deep in the queue gets picked and posted, leaving the rest of the queue behind. Go figure.

I used to espouse the theory that the "stuck" image was held up because some screener was on the fence and was deferring to one of the admins, but I no longer believe that is the case. I have heard back-channel that one of the Screener's has elected not to screen the images of contributors whom he knows personally. If this is the case, I suspect that there are quite a number of us who belong to that club. While I can certainly understand the concern about avoiding the appearance of favoritism, some of us are going to be in trouble if this particular Screener is the only one on duty for a couple of days. I fully believe this is what caused the image I submitted last week to hang in the queue for a day and a half.

BTW, last night, I put that shot back in the queue and it was accepted within an hour.
