GE's Make more HP for fuel used and the new EMDs are not liked all that well. Cash saved is the bottom line. Maybe CAT with some cash can get EMD back to making good power.

Not really, CSX's and a NS's patches were fairly tasteful. They didn't go like UP and stick big boxes of colors that don't belong on the unit on the side (well NS did some with a black patch but only a few units are like that) and they didn't stick little horsies over the CR logo. BNSF probably did the best job with the exception of the Executive MAC's. Really most modern patches with the exception of UP have been pretty tasteful compared to SOO Lines bandits and Conrails ex-PC CockRoaches, the best though is CP which seems to leave the units unaltered till they are repainted.

I agree with Nikos somewhat. The NS patches are horible, but the CSX ones i am very much a fan of. The yellow goes great with the engine and the patches blended much better. NS just did the UP thing, roll a rectangle over the original number and there you go. They didn't go the extra mile to deface the rest of the paintscheme like UP, but... And actually I also like the CR patches on the PC engines. I know that's probably a sick thing to say but whatever.

WTF are you talking about?? Something on the order of 90% of NS's renumberings included a big black rectangle over the old CR number and new white numbers, some were done with big white rectangle and black numbers, some were done with CR blue painted over and white numbers. CSX's were about the same, but blue paint with yellow/gold numbers.

I think they used what light blue paint they had on hand for the first X number of units that were renumbered, but the vast majority were done like I mentioned.

They didnt do like UP did and put their silly shield or logo over predacessors logos though.
