The train was going 10mph and pushed her car a half mile? I have a difficult time believing that...

Why would you turn around in the middle of railroad tracks? I am sure there had to be crossing signs if not lights. Did she have lights on her van?? Just wondering.

That area is just east of downtown Indianapolis. There is a speed limit of 25 through downtown, and the train had just passed the 25mph marker so it was probably closer to 25 than 10.

Default These things Happen Almost Every Day

Here's an article about a trespasser struck on the North East Corridor in Maryland on May 19. The incident ocurred on #3 track on a curve about 1000 feet north of Odenton (south of BWI). Contrary to the article, Train 91 does not stop at Odenton and was probably operating about 95 mph at the time.

9-year-old girl dies from crash injuries in Boca
By Rani Gupta

Plam Beach Post Staff Writer

Wednesday, May 18, 2005

BOCA RATON — A 9-year-old girl has died from injuries she received in a
Tuesday crash in Boca Raton, according to city police. Samantha Rosales
was pronounced dead early Wednesday at Delray Medical Center, police
spokesman Sgt. Bob DeNeve said.

Tuesday, the car Samantha was riding in collided with a train on the
Florida East Coast Railway track crossing at Hidden Valley Boulevard.
Police are still investigating, but said Samantha's father, Scott
Winkoop, 40, of Boca Raton ignored the crossing signals. He received
minor injuries.
