Default Just came back from Marion Ohio

I just came back from a weekend at Marion Ohio. What a great little city to go to if you've never been there. I had to stay about 5 miles away from the depot because there are no hotels in that part of town, which was fine with me. The depot was easy to find. I was really surprised there were not more people there. Ran into a boy and his dad from Columbus on Friday. I had the whole place to myself Saturday and Sunday morning. Sometimes the trains ran one right after the other, and other times you had to wait quite a while between trains. I was a little disappointed with the amount of trains. I left Marion Sat. to go to Fostoria. However, they closed the hotel I use to stay at and the only other hotel, a Best Western was booked with a waiting list. So having no place to stay I decided to go back to Marion. After spending most of the day at the depot, I decided to go back to the hotel for the night. Marion was a nice place to visit, but I still like Fostoria better.

Lucky. That's almost never happened to me there. The only time I've been alone there is either on a weekday or at night. Both CSX lines through there tend to be very nocturnal, and the NS is steady all day. Marion may not get as many trains as Fostoria, but I personally prefer Marion as a good place to just sit back and watch trains.

You know, I have to agree with you. Fostoria may get more trains but I think Marion is a much better location to watch trains from. If you don't mind the wait between trains. Unfortunately the station was closed and i didn't get to go in.
