I'm working on this part here. Since they took down the old depot, not alot to do. I find new shots occasionally.

...and when you have a bike, it's kinda hard to get to other places...

Yours is much better. Had you not posted that, I would have no idea there was a little pond there. I have to wonder why others don't try to incorporate it into their shots...

edit: wait, maybe the fake snow plug-in will jazz it up a bit and I'll get a SC!
You will upset the locals! I hate it when I see a shot from one of my regular spots that is better than I have ever done!

BTW, awesome deer/popcorn gif!

Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

I tried submitting a shot from that location over the summer but was rejected because that stupid tree blocked the depot more.

I love how Daniel just keeps posting after being busted for violating one of RP's biggest rules several times.

What would a tree in front of the depot have to do with anything? It's so far away from that vantage point that it doesn't matter. The depot is a secondary subject in that image.

I don't know, I just recall that a while ago I had a thread, with a rejected photo from that spot and the 'boys explained to me that the tree was distracting.

Can you post the image? I'd like to see why it was worthy of a rejection.

I don't think this was the particular image, but I tried submitting somthing like this and when I came onto the forums, the guys said that the tree was a problem.

That one is too tight on the right for one thing, a tad soft, not great nose light maybe a tad underexposed too.

Is this the thread? http://forums.railpictures.net/showthread.php?t=1272

I really don't think the tree is an issue. The depot isn't a primary subject in the shot. That could certainly work in the summer if you got a little better angle and the train wasn't so tight up against the right side. If you show more of the water like in my shot, no one will care about the trees in front of the depot.

You are saying Jim has inserted snow into his shots? Someone else? Any reason not to name names?

(It isn't me, I have no falling snow in my shots )
